A month ago, I started volunteering on a farm to rack up hours for the Congressional Medal. Honestly, I didn’t think it would change me as much as it has.
I’ve been doing stuff like planting strawberries, pulling weeds, digging up stakes, and tying tarps. Planting taught me that little things add up if you keep at it. Weeding was like this life lesson about getting rid of what holds you back. And yeah, digging and tying tarps was tough, but it felt awesome to finish and see the results.
But it’s not just about the work. I’ve really started to enjoy the whole farm vibe. The way the days flow, hanging out with other volunteers, and just being out in nature—it’s all so chill and rewarding. It’s not just about the hours anymore; it’s about pushing myself and realizing what’s important.
Looking back, I’m super glad I gave this a shot. Every task taught me something new, and I’m pumped to see what’s next. If you’re thinking about volunteering on a farm, do it. It’s tough, yeah, but it’s worth it.
