Exploring Morro Bay: A Kayaking Adventure to Remember

Updated: Dec 17, 2024

Last weekend, the GenU SLO crew went on a kayaking trip in Morro Bay, and it was pretty awesome. We started at the Morro Bay Kayak Shack, rented some kayaks, and got a quick rundown on how not to fall in. After loading up with snacks and essentials, we hit the water. Some of us had never kayaked before, but we figured it out pretty fast and headed across the bay toward these giant sand dunes.

When we got to the dunes, things got wild. We had lunch out there—it seriously felt like we were on some deserted island. Then the real fun started: a full-on battle to see who could push each other down the dunes. All in good fun, of course (mostly). I might’ve ended up sliding down one myself and soaking everyone nearby with my paddle. The views were insane, though—it felt like another planet.

On the way back, we spotted some otters, which was definitely one of the highlights. Everyone was sore from paddling, and yeah, some of us got totally soaked, but no one cared. It was all part of the adventure.

The whole trip was way longer than we expected, but none of us minded. We came back tired but with a ton of stories to tell. It wasn’t just about the kayaking—it was about hanging out, having fun, and trying something new together. Definitely a day to remember.
